Been a while...

Sorry I haven't kept up on this. It's been a hectic few months trying to get the semester over with and start getting ready for the new addition to our family. Now that it's finally May, and the semester is over, hopefully I'll get things rolling again :)

I'm finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel as far as morning sickness goes. I still have some bad days, but mostly I feel pretty good lately. Hallelujah! I kept telling Patrick how much I'd rather have my wisdom teeth out and have the whole ordeal with Dry Socket again than three months of feeling like puking every ten minutes!

Patrick has started up work on the paint/maintanence crew up at USU and until I find a job, I'm stuck here at home. Surprisingly, I've found a lot of things to do. I've actually started up writing again, something I haven't done since high school (yeah, I know I only graduated two years ago, but still!). I also have time to clean up the house more often and that makes me very happy.

I'm sixteen weeks along, but here are some pics of the first ultrasound a month ago. Next month, they tell us what we're getting! Excitingness!

For those of you that haven't heard yet...well, our family is about to get bigger. We will be adding another little Clark to the family in about November! YAY! :)

Mahler's 5th: Day 1

This semester, USU's symphony is playing Mahler's 5th Symphony with UofU. We played our first concert in Salt Lake this week. After the rehearsal, we had 3 hours to kill before the concert so Patrick's dad took us to the Clark Planetarium. We had a grand time.

For all you hard-core Trekkies out there...

After the first killer concert.

We had some car problems so we decided to stay the night in Salt Lake rather than face the prospect of breaking down on the freeway in the dark. We got a really nice hotel room for pretty cheap. The bed was a king-size and it was like sleeping on a huge cloud! The next day, we took the car to a shop and it's only going to be a very minor repair! Whew! We were able to drive home safely, and thanks to many prayers and some amazing divine intervention, we won't have to spend too much to fix the problem. We were even able to get home in time for me to take my Geology test....

Concerning Deer and Crockpot Stew

Here in Logan, it's common knowledge that deer have free roam about the city. One herd in particular basically live in our back yard and wander around our block and neighborhood. Well, last Thursday, I just happened to be doing homework when I got up and went to the kitchen for a drink of water. When I came back, I looked out our back-room window and lo and behold, there was a deer standing right between our building and the neighboring apartment building, just staring back at me through the window. Needless to say, I grabbed the camera and snapped a few shots. Then I noticed there was another deer so I snapped more shots of the two together. The deer around here are fearless. I was knocking on the window, moving around and moving the blinds up and down just to see if it would scare, but it didn't. It's very unfortunate they've become this way becuse many of them get hit on the road :( But for now, the deer continue to coexist peacefully with us, their human neighbors.

The other deer was just a few feet to the right of where the first deer had been before it walked over. You would never know this photo was taken out a back window of an apartment building and there's another apartment and other buildings and houses all around. It looks just like I took a picure of some deer in the middle of the forrest, but those just happen to be the bushes seperating our building from the house next door :) cool effect though....I got a nature shot from the comfort of my own home. Well, that's living the American dream for ya... :)

I don't exatly know what deer #2 is doing....stretching?...mooing?....swallowing....?.......burping....? Haha, You tell me.




Now here's an interesting story. I made crockpot stew today which has a layer of peas on top. I used a whole bag of peas not even thinking about the fact that Patrick hates peas and will do anything to get out of eating them, even if he has to resort to taking 15 minutes of dinnertime to sort them out of his entire serving. By the time I was nearly finished with my stew, he hadn't even tasted his yet, but had come up with this pile of peas that was almost as big as the rest of his serving itself. Now THAT'S dedication. The other half of stew was a big hit, so I will definitely be making it again sometime soon.....just with less peas the next time around. :)
